The result is a much more polished and streamlined game that still manages to have a lot of depth in spite of the gory and dumb exterior, whereas Brutal Doom's main gimmick wears off before you're halfway done with just about any WAD.

The combat in Brutal Doom is clunky and without flow because of all the new attacks, the reloading, and other ♥♥♥♥ that often breaks the pace, while Doom 4 incorporates anything useful in Brutal Doom into combat whilst dropping everything else that's less useful, like reloading weapons, the kick, that disorienting dodge roll, etc. The new Doom takes Brutal Doom's concepts (added alt fires for weapons, melee kills, gore, enhanced enemies) and perfects them, in my opinion. In the end though, both games are so over the top and ridiculous that the violence is just goofy fun. I'd say that it's actually a very close call and I definitely wouldn't argue with anyone who disagreed with my saying Brutal Doom is the more violent game. But saying that it makes Doom 2016 look like it's rated E for Everyone is just incorrect. When it comes down to it, I guess Brutal Doom is more violent. Wish gibbing was in more modern games these days, it's a shame.

Ripping jaws off, limbs off, organs out then shoving said organ down throat. However, 2016 Doom has more graphic/audio fidelity and those glory kills literally puts the violence right in your face. Plus, there are can be a lot more enemies on screen at one time in Brutal Doom, allowing for far more violence at any given time. In terms of violence, Brutal Doom has enemies falling to their knees and trying to hold their guts in, screaming/moaning, or losing their legs and crawling around (also while moaning), and a lot more blood and gore splashing on the walls and ceiling.
